Saucony x Universal Monsters
CONCEPT: Design a memorable and distinct collaboration shoebox for the Super7 x Saucony collaboration.
Built on an existing shoebox dieline for a quick turnaround, this special collaboration shoebox was inspired by the black and white silver-screen monster movies of the past. I utilized a monochromatic color scheme to not only reference this, but it also allowed the packaging to work nicely with the four boldly-colored pairs these were meant for.
I illustrated this box to resemble a decrepit, recently unearthed chest, and it features four different monster nameplates to correspond with the sneakers that were released at SDCC 2019. Small details like a spider and its webs are hidden throughout, and Super7’s manifesto can be seen upon opening the box.
To complete the ensemble, this project was originally designed to be paired with spider-web pattern tissue paper, but that detail did not make it to final production.
CONCLUSION: By reimagining a standard shoebox through narrative detail, this collaboration transformed a functional container into a distinct extension of the Super7 x Saucony x Universal Monsters story.
