Alien Day 2019
CONCEPT: How to reinterpret the visual language of a cinematic icon through unique inspiration, merchandise, and graphic systems.
This project explored how the visual mythology of Alien (1979) could be reinterpreted through collectibles and apparel, drawing specifically from the film’s original pre-release marketing and posters.
For Alien Day 2019, I developed illustrated pennants and packaging inspired by vintage, unused, and conceptual Alien poster art and promo materials. The goal was to capture the tension, mystery, and graphic confidence that defined the film’s initial rollout.
Additionally, I conceptualized and pitched an expanded Alien Day capsule collection designed to extend the same visual language onto apparel. The unreleased concepts explored how the film’s early one-sheets, typography, and graphic motifs could live beyond packaging and function as unique wearables.
CONCLUSION: Together, the released and exploratory work reflects a system-based approach: treating Alien Day not as a single product moment, but as a cohesive visual world capable of scaling across various products while preserving the film’s iconic tone and mystique.

A word of warning...
This cardback featured Bill Gold’s advanced movie poster for Alien, boldly filling the entirety of the front. The back features art of another unused Bill Gold concept poster.
The Alien
The following are unreleased capsule collection pieces I designed and pitched to coincide with the Alien Day 2019 release. These pieces, like the ReAction figures, were inspired by the various vintage promotional material done for the film.
The Forefather
This long-sleeve shirt and hat concept featured an unused logo exploration by another legendary artist, H.R. Giger. Additional type treatments from the other promotional materials can be found on the sleeve.
