Super Cyborg
CONCEPT: How to build packaging systems that can be tailored to the unique visual language of various IPs and brands.
Super Cyborg is a collection of designer action figures by Super7, inspired by Japanese Henshin Cyborgs. Known as the “X-Ray” action figure, they featured transparent bodies that revealed intricate inner workings like cybernetic control panels, power cores, and organs of various licensed characters.
I collaborated with our internal team to develop the look and feel of the first Super Cyborg package - one that would become the graphic basis and standard of every other future product release. The packaging incorporated brand standards from various IP’s to ground each figure in its respective universe, but included illustrated schematics with inventive callouts and unique design flourishes to make the packaging distinctly “Super Cyborg”.
CONCLUSION
Since the first successful launch, the product line has become home to many different characters and unique looks. This project demonstrates how a visual system could be made to adapt to different intellectual properties while preserving its unique identity and looking great on a store shelf.

Side panels for all packaging also featured additional illustrations. On one side, an Instruction Panel denoted the unique removable panels of the Super Cyborg, while the other built upon lore and narrative.
Instructions Included
These instruction panels featured a cohesive layout across properties, but were adapted for each figure and colorway.
Building Lore
The remaining side panel was used as another way to push narrative and provide context, whether that be through a cross-sell or additional information related to the brand.
